Stuff I like using
Browser Extensions
I guess more of you are already using Firefox, so I will not promote it that much anymore as I believe this is the choice of most web designers today.
And you might just like the extensions I like using too, whether CSS or tables, I believe these extensions are very useful to any web designer/developer.
- Web Developer Toolbar
If you made a website and cannot remember how you made it, and needs to go through all the code again, or is working on a site you did not make, I find this tool bar very useful. Things I use often are the Disable CSS, Display Image Dimensions, Outline Images, Display ID and Class Details, Display Block Size, Display Anchors, Outline Block Elements, Outline Table Cells, Outline Tables, Resize Browser Size, Validate HTML, Validate CSS. All these shortcuts found on a single tool bar.
- MeasureIt
I like using this for measuring any area of a web page in pixels. Doing it right inside your browser window. You may not be able to zoom in and get the exact accuracy and precision to really get things measure by the exact pixel, but it gives you a good estimate on the size and distance of things within a page.
- Colorzilla
Use this tool just like using the eyedropper tool in Photoshop®, simply click on any color and get the RGB values you can copy and paste in your web files.
My Favorite Editor
I know tons of people will not use this software that I like, but I am a solid Homesite user. And I do not use Dreamweaver. Just wanted to share that, at work, I am one of the only two people that uses Homesite in a company with 100+ Dreamweaver users. So I will not be surprised if you really do not want to use Homesite. Statistics alone show that we are a minority.
